What should I bring to my consultation?
Please come prepared. Bring 2 or 3 design choices with you. You can find these designs from doing internet searches, in bridal magazines, on cake blogs, or even your own sketch. My favorite way to search for cake ideas is on Pinterest. I do a search for the type of cake I'm looking for (ex. rustic ruffle wedding cake) to find inspiration. If you are ordering a wedding cake, please bring color swatches (ribbon or paint swatches), lace, and your wedding invitation. Anything you would like incorporated into your cake, please bring to your consultation.

How soon should I order my cake?
I will need at least 2-3 weeks notice to plan a cake order. Keep in mind that events in May, June, July, and August book quickly. If your event falls in this time frame, please order as soon as possible.

Do cake prices include fresh flowers?
No. If you want fresh flowers on your cake, please contact your florist to order them. This will ensure that the flowers on your cake match the rest of the flowers in your party. And you will get a better price for ordering them all at the same time. I am happy to provide any silk and handmade sugar flowers you may choose.

Can I choose more than one flavor?
Absolutely! You may choose 2 flavors for a 3 tier cake or 3 flavors for a 4 tier cake.

How do I know what my cake will taste like?
When you call to book your consultation, just ask if you can taste some of the different cake, filling, and icing flavors I offer. That way there are no surprises the day of your event!













What size of cake do I need?
There are a few factors you should consider when choosing a size for your cake. Will the cake be on display for most of the event, then cut and served toward the end when most of the guests have come and gone? Generally speaking, a cake slice served at a birthday party is larger than a cake slice served at a wedding. In some cases, the bride and groom may choose to not serve the cake to their guests. This is completely a personal preference and should be taken into consideration when choosing your cake size. How big of an impact do you want your cake to make and how big is the area where the cake will be displayed? Is the cake the grand centerpiece of your event? Please keep in mind as your are looking for ideas for your cake, any cake can be made into a larger or smaller version. Don't choose your cake style based solely on the size you see in the picture.

I found this graphic over at icedjems.com to be extremely helpful in determining how many people a cake will serve. The numbers on the left reflect how many servings a cake has for a wedding and the numbers on the right reflect how many servings a cake has for a party. For example, a 6' round cake will serve 10 at a wedding, but only 8 at a party.

































How should I cut the cake to serve it?
This chart is a good reference on how to cut your cake. If you have a cake with multiple tiers, keep in mind that the lower tiers will have wooden dowels inside to support the upper tiers. Once you remove the upper tiers, you should be able to see where these have been inserted. The cake will also have a wooden dowel directly down the center of all the tiers, also for support. Remove the dowels before serving the cake. Each tier will also be sitting on a cardboard round for support.

How do I store extra cake?
Your cake will keep on the counter for a few days. If you have perishable fillings or frostings (ex.cream cheese frosting), you will want to keep your cake in the refrigerator. If you want to store your cake long term (for example, if you keep your top tier for your first wedding anniversary), wrap it first in parchment or wax paper, then wrap it in aluminum foil. Store it in the freezer.
